My glamorous life in all of its utter ridiculousness

Good evening, interwebs. I am thoroughly exhausted and desperately need a break from my dear sweet children. For the past two weeks Jude has refused to sleep in his crib in order to sleep next to me. His top gums are swollen, and so I’m going to chalk it up to him getting teeth. Needless to say, only Margot has gotten a good night’s sleep since all of this started. Let’s hope that tonight goes well. FINGERS. CROSSED. Margot has been a little angel for us, save for a few brief moments. It’s been crazy, crazy, crazy and I have been slacking on my blog…as seems the norm for the past however long. I’M SORRY.

I have a ridiculous amount of laundry to fold and put away. At some point, I’m sure it’ll do itself. I don’t mind doing laundry, but I HATE HATE HATE putting it away. HATE IT.

The dishes are needing to be done, but I have plenty of time to do them. They only take a few minutes to do, and I’ll have a clean kitchen when they’re finished. Clean kitchen, what?

I’m still not finished with my slip covers for the couch, because when we went to Indiana I got my sewing machine. I got it back here, set it up, and for some reason my machine isn’t catching the bobbin thread. I’m SURE it’s user error, but if it’s a timing issue I will be devastated. This is a Singer CG 560. It’s an industrial strength machine that my mother paid good money for, and I’ve missed it. I don’t know anyone who has a machine comparable to mine, and I seriously hope I can figure out what’s going on. If I can’t…then I’ll just figure out a no-sew method to make our living room fabulous.

I feel that I have gotten many DIYs started and only a few have been finished. I’m in the middle of making the crayon letters from Pinterest, but I’ve found that they are extremely frustrating. I try to freehand any pattern I need, and that seems to work okay. I just bought several more packs of crayons, because every project I find on Pinterest using them I have to try it. I don’t think they’ll take very long once I get going, but I have to be sure the kids are asleep before I whip out craft glue and an Xacto knife. I’ll keep you posted. I also have a baby shower to go to on Saturday, and I am HOPING I have time to make her super cool gift(I’m not going to disclose what it is in case she reads this, but I will post pictures once it’s done). Also, I saw an idea to repurpose all of the broken crayons we have that Margot doesn’t use. We made little hand friendly “tie dye” crayons. Super cool.

My angelic big helper.

Preheat your oven to 250F. Tear the papers off of the broken crayons, and sort them into muffin tins.

Bake them for about 7-8 minutes or until they are all visibly melted. Cool them in the fridge or freezer. It will make them easier to remove.

Voila! Super cool!

Ohhh, I am tired. I could really use  a serious back rub, a big cup of coffee with a heaping shot of Bailey’s or Godiva liqueur, and a snuggle. And probably a brownie. Or something. Am I whiny or WHAT?!

Social Sunday Link Up! August 26, 2012

I’m going to go ahead and do this now, since I may not get to it tomorrow…

1. What is the first website you log into each day?

Easy. It’s Facebook. I can’t resist all the juicy drama that I have absolutely no part in!

2. Give us some funny websites that you visit and we need to know about.

I Can Has Cheezburger

Text from Dog

Text from Bennett

All hysterical, seriously. Check them out!

3. Pinterest or Facebook? Why?

Pinterest. I could spend HOURS looking for a new craft to do. It has inspired me to actually craft, and attempt things that I’ve never even thought of tackling. Seriously, look up the broken mirror floor or the penny floor. SO. FREAKING. COOL.

4. Twitter or Instagram? Why?

I never got into Twitter, and I only rarely use Instagram. So neither, really.

5. Favorite YouTube video. Post it!

Oh my god…so funny.

Anything by Kandee Johnson. LOVE HER WORK.

6. Biggest online pet peeve?

Negative comments on anything, blogs, videos, whatever. Seriously? You have nothing better to do with your time than to anonymously call people names and try to make them feel bad about themselves? Grow up.

Feeling Good!

I am BACK! It has been over a week since I posted last, mostly due to the fact that I was nowhere near a computer in Indy. I am thrilled to be blogging right now, though! I have accomplished so much today, and I am feeling GREAT.

Indiana is always full of great memories when we get to visit. I’ll post some of the best pictures we took. There are several to sort through. The Indiana State Fair is one of Erik and I’s favorite things about going back. Fair food, the Midway, the world’s largest boar, and winning prizes for our little ones! We also were able to visit the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, which is amazing! Margot loved it the last time we were there, and she is obsessed with the carousel. The last place we wanted to visit if we got the chance was the Indianapolis Zoo. I haven’t been to the zoo since I was little because I think it smells awful. Margot and Jude got to experience the zoo for the first time ever, and they LOVED it. Our kids will thank us for all of these early memories later.

Now that I’m home, I’m thankful to be here. But I don’t know that Tennessee will ever really feel like “home”. Besides, Carmel was voted the #1 place to live in the United States. Anyone wonder why I want to move back? Since we’ve been back, we’ve done a lot of running and sleeping. I took the kids to the library, Wal-mart twice, and Yaya’s. I cleaned all but Erik and I’s bedroom; I did three loads of laundry; I did three loads of dishes; I made a wreath. It’s been crazy today, and I don’t know where all this energy came from[other than a long nap that the children and I took today]. I’m incredibly thankful to have gotten all of this done. Thank you, dear babies, for taking a long nap AND going to bed at a decent time.

Anywho, pictures from Indiana:

The kids driving a concept Hot Wheels car!

Erik and Margot discovering dinosaurs!

Margot and I on a ride at the fair!

Margot and snuggling meerkats!

Jude’s first motorcycle ride, JUST KIDDING.

Finally, I’m going to post some pictures of my first attempt at making a wreath. I saw “pool noodle wreaths” on Pinterest, and desperately wanted to try it. Unfortunately, Wal-Mart was out of pool noodles, so I just winged it. I bought raffia, fake flowers, floral wire, fake berries, and a little box of decorative pumpkins and pine cones. Seriously, it came out better than I expected it to. Here’s my first autumn wreath!

I know, it’s not that amazing. But I’m proud of it! It’s hung a little off center, but hey I did it myself! Now I feel like I can make one for Christmas, too!

My next DIY? Crayon letters! It’s another Pinterest inspiration. We just rearranged the living room and made a designated “kids’ corner”, and these would look grade along side my melted crayon piece.

My inspiration

Have a great day, guys! I have missed you! What are your current DIY inspirations?

It’s an Early Day August 15, 2012

It’s 7AM, which is a pretty normal time for normal people to wake up. But considering our family operates on the “restaurant” schedule, we usually aren’t up until 9:30 or 10AM. Margot goes to bed around 9:30, and Jude is usually asleep around 11. Erik and I are usually in bed around 1 or 2. The last few days, I’m not sure what Jude’s deal is. He won’t sleep in his crib and will only fall asleep if I let him stay latched on. Needless to say, the last time he woke up, I just got up. I nursed him back to sleep, and decided I’d just finish the last few things we need to do before we leave. And write a blog.

Soooo, GOOD MORNING! Since I can’t have coffee, I’m enjoying juice. When the kids get up, I WILL get a shower. I swear it! We leave for Indiana in just a few hours, and I CAN’T WAIT! Words can’t describe the feeling I get as soon as we hit Hamilton County. Thankfully, Erik’s grandma[who we’re staying with] lives just a few minutes away from my grandma and mom. As of last night we have whittled our list of important things that we absolutely want to do down to something every day.

What does that list include?

1. The Indiana State Fair – No fair or carnival anywhere will top this for us. It’s always a BLAST, and we know Margot is just going to really get into it this year! I can’t wait for my deep fried Milky Way, or a garbage burger, or lemon shake-ups, or deep fried pickle spears! I think the new food at the fair this year is deep fried bubblegum(yuck!) and ice cream with spaghetti(double yuck!). We’ll probably try it anyways. Be adventurous!

2. The Children’s Museum – We went for the first time with Margot back in May. She walked through the museum wide-eyed. She was in play heaven. We desperately want to go back, because there is nothing like that here in good ol’ Tennessee.

3. The Indianapolis Zoo – I HATE the zoo, but now I have kids. Every child has to go to the zoo at some point, and Erik is adamant about going while we’re up there. Our nearest zoo down here is about two hours away. So we’ll go even though it smells like poo. Whatever, I’ll suck it up because Margot will totally freak out seeing lions, and tigers, and bears OH MY!

4. Circle Center Mall – We want to go on a legitimate date, because it’s been awhile on that one. I’m considering trying to convince Erik to let us go on a carriage ride downtown and MAYBE somewhere like the Eagle’s Nest or St. Elmo’s. It’s not likely to happen, because Erik isn’t much of a romantic. But you never know, he has risen to the occasion before!

5. Family Get-togethers – I am determined to have my extended family meet Erik and Jude for the first time EVER. I know, it’s crazy that we could date for three years and he have never met my family. But that’s how it’s worked out. His father hasn’t even met my mother yet! CRAZY. My nieces haven’t even met Jude! It’s insanity. But it WILL happen if I have anything to do with it.

I think that about sums up our list. We’ll be there until next Wednesday, and I want to be able to really relax and enjoy ourselves. I’m going to get back to finishing packing. Please send nap vibes my way!

Sorry World! August 14, 2012

Filed under: Uncategorized — unbleighvable @ 9:48 pm

I have been seriously neglecting my blog. I’ve been trying to finish this post about some really negative things that were said to me awhile ago, and I HAVE finished it. TWICE. But my dang computer keeps deleting it, I suppose. I’m sure it’s more user error than anything, but whatever.

It’s been almost a week since I’ve posted anything, and I am SORRY for that. I promise to be better about posting when I have less to worry about. Haha. For those of you who don’t know, we are leaving for Indiana TOMORROW! We go to the Indiana State Fair every year, and we are able to stay for a whole week this time. We can’t wait! Margot has been giddy about seeing Grandma and Grandpa and Papa Brian and Lydia and Delaney. She is telling me that we are leaving now. I have to put my shoes on so we can go to Indiana.

The reality of all of this is that I am packing for both children, myself, and my darling man child, Erik. His work schedule has been crazy busy, so I have to do most of his packing. I finished the kids packing this morning, and I am almost finished with packing my clothes. My shoes are a completely different story; I am set on taking only THREE pairs. It’s a huge process, eliminating shoes from my “must haves” list. Either way, I am determined to be finished packing before dinner. Once the kids are asleep, I will begin packing non-perishables and planning out cooler space and hopefully packing up the truck. I also have laundry to put away, and some still to dry. I promised our old bed set to some friends, so I’m also in the process of washing that. Our washer just sounded like it was going to come out and attack us. SCARY.

Erik’s mom took the kids for a few hours yesterday so I could clean the house, and it was sparkling. Today? Back to it’s usual state. It’s a disaster. Erik and the kids play an equal part in the daily destruction of the house. Am I irritated? Yes, but there are more pressing matters at hand. I have to get these things finished, and THEN I can worry about cleaning the house. Again.

When we get to Indiana we will be staying with Erik’s grandparents, and they are WONDERFUL. Seriously, if we asked them to adopt our kids, they would. In a heartbeat. They are both retired, incredibly patient, and hilarious! They live their lives to the fullest. Grandpa is a motorcycle fanatic, vegetarian, and a wonderfully spiritual man. Grandma is extremely maternal, and that’s all the explanation she needs. She would give anything to be with her family every single day. They’re selfless with their lives.

This time, we have very few plans other than the state fair. We do plan on having a “meet and greet” as it were, for Erik and Jude to meet some of my extended family. It’s been three years, it’s high time they meet. We also expect Erik’s dad to meet my mom for the FIRST time. Crazy, I know.

Anyways, back to my packing. Ugh.

It’s OK Thursday! August 10, 2012

Its Ok Thursdays

I have been reading these for about three weeks via Ashley at Simply, Ashley. This week, I feel it’s necessary that I participate in this link up. I need to accept some of my failures.

Here it goes…

It’s OK..

1. That I didn’t actually make a second, meaningful post yesterday as promised. Jude didn’t go to bed till Erik and I did.

2. That I have found another mom that I really click with and have spend an enormous amount of time with her trying to socialize our kids and ourselves. I need “mommy” time.

3. That I have really slacked on my slip cover project, and I desperately need to finish it. I’m so unmotivated…it’s rough doing these things by hand!

4. That I really want to go on a date with my man even though we’re about to go on “vacation”. We rarely get dates, and sometimes I need him to myself without the babies. We’re young, but we still have to work on that “spark”.

5. That I already want another tattoo. It’s ridiculous. We just finished ours. But Tyler’s work is SO good.

6. That Erik claims he doesn’t read my blog, but he reads whatever I write over my shoulder. It’s adorable.

7. That I am dying to be done breastfeeding for no other reason other than to have coffee again. Yes, I love that I am nursing, but some days I just CRAVE a cup of joe.

That’s it guys…I know it’s not much. But don’t worry! Another post is coming!

Sorry for the Break! August 8, 2012

Filed under: Uncategorized — unbleighvable @ 6:32 pm

I apologize for the brief(three day) hiatus I have taken! We recently met with our tattoo artist’s wife and kids, and have found great playmates for our kids. We’ve had all day play dates the past two days, so I apologize. I will be posting something tonight, and I will do my best to make it interesting. I am VERY tired today after playing with four babies.

Today is a lazy day.
