Its Ok Thursdays

I have been reading these for about three weeks via Ashley at Simply, Ashley. This week, I feel it’s necessary that I participate in this link up. I need to accept some of my failures.

Here it goes…

It’s OK..

1. That I didn’t actually make a second, meaningful post yesterday as promised. Jude didn’t go to bed till Erik and I did.

2. That I have found another mom that I really click with and have spend an enormous amount of time with her trying to socialize our kids and ourselves. I need “mommy” time.

3. That I have really slacked on my slip cover project, and I desperately need to finish it. I’m so unmotivated…it’s rough doing these things by hand!

4. That I really want to go on a date with my man even though we’re about to go on “vacation”. We rarely get dates, and sometimes I need him to myself without the babies. We’re young, but we still have to work on that “spark”.

5. That I already want another tattoo. It’s ridiculous. We just finished ours. But Tyler’s work is SO good.

6. That Erik claims he doesn’t read my blog, but he reads whatever I write over my shoulder. It’s adorable.

7. That I am dying to be done breastfeeding for no other reason other than to have coffee again. Yes, I love that I am nursing, but some days I just CRAVE a cup of joe.

That’s it guys…I know it’s not much. But don’t worry! Another post is coming!

Sunday SocialIt’s official! This is my second link up!

1. What is your favorite fall activity?

Back in Indiana, I used to LOVE going to the pumpkin patch, hay rides, drinking my weight in apple cider, and snuggling in blankets. This will be our second fall in Tennessee, but the weather is either scorching hot or cold. So, we’ll have to find new things to do. We’ll probably watch a lot of classic kid movies and bake a lot of cookies

2. Do you follow a football team? Which one and why?

Since I became a SAHM I haven’t really had much time for football. Our television is almost always on Sprout. However, as Indy faithfuls, our family bleeds blue. We are Colts fans. Even with the changes in line-up they will always have a special place in our hearts. I also love the Buccaneers for no other reason than they have the COOLEST stadium. Hello? Pirate ship stadium? You can’t beat that.

3. What is something fun about fall in your area?

I, honestly, don’t know of anything that happens down here in the fall. Oh wait! The Bristol race is in August! We’ve never been, but Erik doesn’t really dig racing.

4. What are your favorite fall outfit staples?

I start getting cold when it’s 65 outside, so I’m almost always in jeans. I couldn’t live without my jeggings, knee high boots, and cardigans. I love boots, and my current favorites are wedge heel riding boots. Love!

5. What things are you looking forward to most about this coming fall season?

We are going to Indiana in a little less than two weeks! September 9th is Erik and I’s third anniversary! We leave for our cruise to Mexico October 15th! Halloween is always a big hit in our house! Jude’s first birthday is November 11! Thanksgiving is always a delicious treat to me! My mom is getting MARRIED in November! It’s a big year.

6. What is your favorite fall holiday? Traditions?

I love both Halloween and Thanksgiving. Taking Margot trick-or-treating last year was so much fun! She really got into the spirit when she realized we were getting candy by dressing up as a kitty. Thanksgiving is DELICIOUS. How could you not like it? Turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, it’s all good to me. Since we moved to Tennessee, my traditions have had to change. Last year we got together with Erik’s mom and family. We were able to celebrate with little Jude!

This was Margot’s Halloween costume last year! She still enjoys wearing it even though it’s too small. How cute!

This was our Thanksgiving get together. We got stuck at the kid’s table. Haha!

Jude snoozed away during dinner.

Hope you enjoyed my answers! Have a great Sunday!

Parenting Fail August 4, 2012

Let me just say that I have been try to figure out this “Grab My Button” thing for almost TWO hours. TWO hours, people. I’m going to send props to My Pregnancy Baby for a very clear tutorial, but I’m just not the most tech savvy blogger out there, and I couldn’t get it to work for me. I’m sure had I really looked at the coding I could’ve figured out what I was doing wrong. I ended up just going to a “Grab My Button” code generator that totally ended up working. You can find it here.

Anyways, now that I’ve sent my respect to my lovely code helpers, on to my LOVELY day. Today was probably the biggest FAIL in both Erik and I’s parenting careers. Thank GOD he was home when this happened. I’ve already told him one or all of us involved probably would not have survived me losing it. So what happened exactly? We decided since Erik didn’t work till later, we would grab some new books from the library. Easy enough.

-Commence all four of us upstairs in the process of getting ready.-

Margot: I clip my nails. (meaning she wants to paint her nails)

-She promptly exits the bathroom. I begin brushing my teeth. Silence ensues.-

Me: Erik, what are they doing? Kids?

-I run into the kids room. They are both in the tent we have set up. Margot has dumped a whole bottle of clear nail polish and is painting her toenails. Jude is CRAWLING IN IT.-

Me: NO! NO! NO! NO! PLEASE STOP! NO!

-Thus begins the half an hour long process of removing the nail polish from my sweet little boy’s body, and trying to salvage the tent.-

Again, thank God Erik was home for this. I probably would’ve died knowing this happened on my watch alone.

Other than that our day went very smoothly. We picked out tons of new books for my girl. I found a copy of “The Well Trained Mind” in order to help me better understand how to begin early education for my kids. We took babies to the park to release some energy, and they both thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

We all survived the nail polish incident. No tears were shed, nobody lost their cool. It was a moment that, hopefully, will never happen again.

I actually cleaned our dining room table(which is really just a little breakfast nook type table and chairs), and made dinner, and we ATE AT THE TABLE. That never happens. The kids were GREAT. They both ate without a problem. Say WHAT?

Then, we did bath time, as usual. I knew I would have to scrub both kids because I didn’t want them to smell like nail polish. Both of them listened, let me scrub them both, played together in the bath, shared bath toys, and got out without argument. They went to bed without a fight. Who are these people who have replaced my children? I can go downstairs…alone?!

Now, after two hours of trying to figure out how to make this button thing, I’m tired of writing. I want to go to bed, snuggle my lovey husband man, and sleep. Deeply.

Have a wonderful evening, people. I appreciate every one of you who actually reads my posts.

Our little tiny table. Shut up. I’m proud of it being clean. It’s usually my “laundry table”.

My Latest Obsessions July 22, 2012

sI figured that since my last post was a little rough around the edges, I should lighten the mood. This is just a fun post about my recent “addictions”. This will be a list of products, shows, and pages I love, love, love. Enjoy!

1. Ebay – Erik and I both love Ebay because we can find everything for dirt cheap. We love getting new cases for our iPhones. These are a few of them…

I had this case for about ten days before I needed a replacement. It’s beautiful but very fragile.

I am currently anticipating the arrival of this case. I seriously hope it’s as amazing as it looks.

2. Pinterest – Just like the majority of ladies I know, I could spend HOURS on Pinterest. I love finding DIY projects that are simple and kid friendly. I’m also completely in love with wedding ideas; I have always loved all things wedding oriented. I pin mostly crafts, delicious looking treats, and wedding dresses or venues. I’m a girly girl. Haha.

3. The Walking Dead – Let me just say that I hate zombie shows, video games, the thought, or anything to do with zombies. They’re gross and horrifying. But let me just say that Erik has really gotten me into this show. We just finished up the season finale on DVR, and I love the story line. I have genuine opinions about characters and the plot. I don’t really like gory shows, but the CG isn’t great in this show. Therefore it’s tolerable. For any of you who watch the show, Daryl and Herschel are my favorite characters. I loathe Lori, Carl, and Andrea. I’ll have to post about my thoughts later. I could go on for awhile.

Daryl Dixon from The Walking Dead

This is Herschel Greene. Anyone who knows me should know that I almost always love grandpas. Isn’t he adorable?

4. Scentsy – I found out about Scentsy after deciding that tart warmers were far more efficient than candles. They’re low temperature melting wax makes it safe for my kids if they find a way to climb the counters and stick their finger in it. They are a company of independent sales consultants, and my neighbor happens to be one! Their products are a little bit more expensive than warmers or tarts you would buy in a department store. Personally, I have only bought the bars while using Wal-Mart brand warmers. Their scents are amazing and much more fragrant than any candle or Wal-Mart brand tart that I’ve purchased. This is a link to my consultants page in case you’re interested: https://smellygoodthings.scentsy.us/Scentsy/Home

This is one of my favorite scents, Kahiko Hula. It is very fruity and tart. It makes our house smell amazing!

This is the Scentsy brand warmer called Margot and is totally gorgeous. Of course I want it!

5. Thirty-One – I found out about this through Suzanne, my mother-in-law. For Margot’s second birthday she gave me this ADORABLE personalized Thirty-One tote that I now use as a diaper bag. Since then, I have added their large utility tote to our collection. I have used it for laundry, crafts, and will soon be used for my “early education” endeavors. Suzanne is apparently going to surprise me with another piece that should match what we already have.

This is my personalized Thirty-One tote. Yes, those are my cartoon babies! It reads “Wente Kids”. Adorable!

This isn’t the best picture of the utility tote, but this is the pattern “Lotsa Dots”. It’s the same pattern as on Margot’s dress on the canvas tote I have.

This is a close up of the embroidered “Wente” on the utility tote. It’s actually much easier to read than these pictures show.

6. Books – This is going to be my last “obsession” for the day. These are just a few of my favorite books to read to the kids that we all love. Margot and Jude both love reading stories. I love reading to them. We read anywhere from three to five books every night right before bedtime, and it really helps mellow them out.

This book is more for me to remind the kids that I will always love and support them.

Again, this book is mostly for me to remind them that I cherish their childhood, but I don’t want to stifle their growth by dwelling on memories.

Margot LOVES this book. I always have her point out different things and explain what’s going on in each picture. It’s amazing what she can understand. Also, every Mercer Mayer book has like a mouse and/or a spider hidden on each page.

This is the first book I ever read to Margot. She was a newborn, and she loved every story except the last one, “What was I Scared of?” Now that’s probably her favorite. This book has “The Sneetches”, “The Zax”, “Too Many Daves”, and “What was I Scared of?” Almost anything Dr. Seuss is a hit with her.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Feel free to let me know what you think. I could certainly use some feedback to help gear my future posts!
